Three men – two from Los Angeles and one from Compton – have been arrested in connection with a home invasion robbery in Calabasas while authorities looked for a fourth suspect.
Vernell White, 44, and Carl DeLoach, 30, both of Los Angeles, and Michael Robinson, 39, were arrested on suspicion of crimes including kidnapping for the purposes of robbery and home invasion robbery, authorities explained.
Investigators are also attempting to identify and find a fourth suspect involved, the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department said.
The men were wanted in connection with forcing their way into a home in the 22500 block of Charlestown Drive before they bound victims with zip ties, the sheriff’s department said.
During the robbery, the men — who authorities said were documented South Los Angeles criminal street gang members — stole cash, jewelry and personal items worth more than $200,000.
On Aug. 24, the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department’s Major Crimes Bureau Burglary-Robbery Task Force held a press conference asking for the public’s help in solving the robbery, which occurred on Aug. 6.
Afterward, detectives from the task force received tips from phone calls and emails, which combined with evidence and previously investigated information, led investigators to the three men who had “extensive” criminal histories, authorities said.
White was arrested on Sept. 14 without incident when he checked in for a scheduled federal probation office visit, the sheriff’s department said.
The same day, authorities added, Robinson was arrested, also without incident, during what was described as an “enforcement” stop on the 10 Freeway in the Mid-City community of Los Angeles.
A week later on Sept. 21, DeLoach was arrested without incident while he was seated in a parked car outside of an apartment complex in Victorville, authorities noted.
White’s criminal history, authorities explained, includes multiple bank robberies and narcotic violations and he was on federal probation for bank robbery.
Meanwhile, Robinson’s past includes forgery, residential burglary and narcotics violations, the sheriff’s department said.
DeLoach’s history includes assault, illegal firearm possession and narcotics violations and he was on parole for a recent residential burglary conviction.
A preliminary hearing for the three men is scheduled for Friday in Van Nuys.
