These celebs should wear fashion month’s best dresses

The big shows in New York, London, Milan and Paris have just ended, but the fashion world can’t take off its heels for too long — film-awards season is fast approaching. With multiple red carpets coming up, here are 10 fabulous gowns from the spring 2018 runways, plus predictions about which actresses could rock them.

Elle Fanning in Alexander McQueen

Elle Fanning played the sleeping beauty of Disney’s “Maleficent,” so what better way for her to look like a real-life princess than in this magical Alexander McQueen number? With the tulle gown’s realistic embroidered flowers, Fanning will look absolutely beguiling.

Jessica Chastain in Ralph Lauren

Jessica Chastain probably learned a thing or two about poker from playing the cards-savvy gal in “Molly’s Game” — and in this slinky black and blue Ralph Lauren dazzler, she’s hit the jackpot. As the face of the fragrance Woman by Ralph Lauren, Chastain probably prefers not to gamble on any other designer.

Zendaya in Calvin Klein

Zendaya, never one to shy from red-carpet risks, could pull off this rainbow-hued Calvin Klein gown. How better to channel the colorful world of the circus from “The Greatest Showman,” the upcoming film for which Hugh Jackman called her a “badass”?

Salma Hayek in Elie Saab

The cool, calming tones of this Elie Saab gown would easily suit Salma Hayek, who played the spiritual healer of “Beatriz at Dinner.” Just like her character’s strong convictions in the film, perhaps Salma Hayek knew this gown in a past life.

Kirsten Dunst in Rodarte

It wouldn’t shock anyone to find “Woodshock” star and Rodarte muse Kirsten Dunst choosing one of the brand’s ethereal frocks, such as this red gown. Dunst has already sported a baby’s breath flower crown as well as some other looks from this collection, but we’re hoping to see her in this dramatic pick.

Octavia Spencer in Tadashi

The celestial details on this ocean-blue Tadashi Shoji stunner are out of this world: a fine choice, in other words, for Octavia Spencer, who’s already earning Oscar buzz for her role in the sci-fi romance, “The Shape of Water.”

Jane Fonda in Tom Ford

Jane Fonda is back in the spotlight — turning heads on the L’Oréal runway in Paris and reuniting with her “Barefoot in the Park” co-star Robert Redford in “Our Souls at Night.” She’d keep her fashion streak going strong in this dusty pink Tom Ford gown, its shining sleeves a subtle homage to her “Barbarella” roots.

Jennifer Lawrence in Dior

Jennifer Lawrence’s turn in the nightmarish “Mother!” may still be haunting your dreams, but she can clear up the nightmare and look like a dream in this shimmering silver Dior showstopper. Lawrence is a Dior brand ambassador and they have proven to be a winning team: She famously wore Dior for her Best Actress Oscar win in 2013.

Saoirse Ronan in Oscar de la Renta

This frothy, pretty-in-pink Oscar de la Renta gown echoes the pink hair worn by Christine McPherson, a k a “Lady Bird,” Saoirse Ronan’s character in the coming-of-age film of the same name. She’d do well to wear this one to the prom.

Gal Gadot in Roberto Cavalli

The fierce molded bodice on this Roberto Cavalli gown recalls the armored top Gal Gadot wore in “Wonder Woman.” Its stretchy skirt and racerback-style neckline give the gown its sporty edge. Wonder if Gadot will eschew heels for comfy flats, as she has in the past?
