It’s been months since President Donald Trump’s youngest child, Barron Trump, became First Son — and former First Daughter Chelsea Clinton continues to come to Barron’s defense. Earlier this week, Chelsea, 37, stood up for the 11-year-old via Twitter after he was called out in an article titled, “It’s High Time Barron Trump Starts Dressing Like He’s In the White House.” She wrote, “It’s high time the media and everyone leave Barron Trump alone and let him have the private childhood he deserves.” Chelsea’s message has since garnered more than 41,000 likes and nearly 7,000 retweets.
This interestingly isn’t the first time Chelsea has defended Barron against online bullies. Just days after President Trump’s January inauguration, Barron was unfortunately poked fun at when he seemed bored during his dad’s swearing in ceremony. In the hours following the inauguration, Chelsea took to Twitter to defend Barron’s tough role in the spotlight.

“Barron Trump deserves the chance every child does — to be a kid,” she wrote on the micro-blogging site. “Standing up for every kid also means opposing @POTUS policies that hurt kids.” Chelsea — who is mom to two young children, daughter Charlotte and son Aidan, with husband Marc Mezvinsky
— was herself a First Daughter for eight years from 1993 until 2001 when her father, Bill Clinton, served as the 42nd President of the United States.
Throughout the 2016 Presidential Election, Chelsea additionally made headlines because of her friendship with Donald’s eldest daughter, Ivanka Trump, as people wondered whether the two women would remain friendly as their parents battled to become the next POTUS. “We were friends long before this election; we will be friends long after this election,” Chelsea — whose mother, Hillary Clinton, was Donald’s opponent — said in a September 2016 interview. “Our friendship didn’t start in politics and it certainly is not going to end because of politics. I have tremendous respect for Ivanka. I love her family. She’s a working mom like I am. We have so much more in common than we have disagreement about.”
But in a subsequent interview, Ivanka revealed she and Chelsea have unfortunately not spoken since Hillary’s election loss. “She’s been a friend of mine long before the campaign, of course will be a friend of mine after,” she said. “I haven’t spoken about the specific challenges about this next chapter with her just yet, but I intend to.”
