Men’s Fragrances Fit for any Season

Want to be the kind of guy that can say, “I’m not a businessman, I’m a business, man?” Yeah, well, we all want to be Jay Z, and to get there you should, at the very least, smell downright sensational so that people want to be around you. Here’s how.

  1. Givenchy Gentleman: Welcome to the 21st century, gentlemen! Out this month is a fresh take on the original fragrance that launched back in the 1970s—and now it’s back and sexier than ever. Wood and leather notes have spanned the decades with a new and less expected floral twist for the modern man. Aaron Taylor-Johnson takes on the role as the face of the campaign. Keep your eyes peeled! ($89)

  2. Ex Nihilo Citizen X: X marks the spot, with an ultra-fresh and green fragrance from Ex Nihilo. Mastic tree and white pepper gives the juice a spicy edge you can feel in your throat, and the scent finishes slightly musky with notes of incense and amber. Plus it has a really cool name that kind of sounds like a superhero—so there’s that. ($325)

  3. YSL Y: When three super-cool, super-creative, (oh, and super-hot) guys are the faces of a fragrance campaign, you know the scent is going to be good. Launching in September is this sleek bottle, wrapped along the top in a metal Y, with a juice that is a delicate blend of natural notes, from bergamot to fir balsam. ($72)

  1. Molton Brown Russian Leather: It doesn’t get much more manly than the smell of rich leather. This scent transports us to a cabin in the woods of Russia enveloped in the smell of pine trees and chopped wood. Being that it’s exclusive to Harrods, though, it’s looking like you’ll have to leave your cabin to get it. ($51)

  2. Nomenclature: When you think of men’s fragrance, flowers probably aren’t the first things to come to mind. Well, think again. This unisex scent, described as “electric,” is a powdery petal blend of freesia, jasmine, iris, rose, and violet. Now that’s a bouquet we can get behind. ($165)

  3. Prada L’Homme Intense: Set the scene with this Spanish-made scent from Prada. Layers of amber, patchouli, and tonka bean blend to create a woody aroma that is masculine with a touch of sweetness. The word “intense” can be slightly misleading, as the fragrance itself is as warm as his favorite flannel. ($104)
