Ninety-two teams have been whittled down to just two as Manchester City and Arsenal prepare to battle it out for this season’s first piece of silverware.
The past six months in the EFL Cup – now known as the Carabao Cup – have been filled with incident, delight and sometimes even embarrassment, but it reaches a conclusion this February.
Pep Guardiola’s all-conquering Man City are still challenging on four fronts and they will be eager to notch their first accolade of an incredible season.
The Gunners, on the other hand, are looking to salvage a campaign that has been a thorough disappointment thus far and this tournament is one of two realistic hopes for glory.
But when is it all kicking off? Goal brings you everything you need to know about the 2017-18 Carabao Cup final.

Carabao Cup prize money
According to the Mirror, the winners of the Carabao Cup receive £100,000 as a reward and the runners-up are also compensated – with £50,000.
The paper also reports that there is no prize money available until the semi-final stage of the competition, with the losing teams pocketing £25,000 each.
While the prize money for the Carabao Cup pales in comparison to that on offer in the Premier League and the FA Cup, clubs stand to earn money from gate receipts.
Do the Carabao Cup winners qualify for Europe?
Yes. The winner of the Carabao Cup is not only rewarded financially, but they are also provided a route into European competition, with a place in the second qualifying round of the 2018-19 Europa League.
However, since Manchester City are likely to qualify for the Champions League through their league finish and Arsenal are also in the frame for either Champions League or Europa League qualification, it makes things slightly different.
Should both teams earn continental qualification through their league finish or otherwise, the Europa League berth reserved for the winner will go to the highest-placed team in the Premier League that has not already qualified.
In 2017, for example, Manchester United won the trophy, but since they qualified for the group stage of the Champions League by virtue of their Europa League triumph, the continental reward went to seventh-placed Everton instead.
Route to the final
Due to the fact that they had qualified for continental competition, both teams entered the event at the third round stage, with the first games taking place in September.

Guardiola’s men beat West Brom, Wolves, Leicester City and Bristol City to reach the final. The results of those games can be seen below.

Arsenal’s route to the final

The Gunners had four games at home overall en route to Wembley, two more than City.
